5 Ways to Stop Procrastinating

Procrastinating. Let’s talk about it the one thing that affects all of things. Humans. Pets. Even objects. An object at rest stays at rest … It’s human nature to procrastinate and completely organic, however, today let’s talk about how break out of the procrastination bubble and get to work! Without further ado, let’s get to it.

5 Ways to Stop Procrastinating

  1. Write the tasks down. Whatever tasks you have, write them down.  Whether you’re writing them down in your planner or placing them in your Google calendar, s p e l l it out.  Take the task out of your head and onto paper. The task will become more tangible and accessible and it’s a way to hold yourself accountable.
  2. Organize your tasks by priority. Have you ever had a mountain of things to do and instead you just take a nap? Yeah, sure, neither do we … :) Next time before taking that slumber, try organizing your tasks by priority.  Use a system: High, medium, low. And stick to it. By creating an order, you can send your attention and focus (drishti) to the right tasks.
  3. Take 10 (minutes). Do the thing for the 10 minutes. You may surprise yourself with how far you’ve gotten in completion.  Start the task and set an alarm for 10 short minutes and get to it!
  4. Give yourself grace and stop feeling guilty. Stop feeling guilty for the the tasks you’ve put off or haven’t completed. It’s a vicious cycle. If you associate negative feelings towards the task, you’ll gravitate away from them.  Instead, give yourself grace. Take a deep breath, try tips 1-3 and see where you get!
  5. Reward yourself for the completed work. Having something to look forward to after checking an item off of your to-do list will make it easier to come back to more when you’re feeling lack of motivation.  Reward yourself to something positive! Need ideas? Click here for some ideas.

Bonus: Switch up your workspace! if you can do the task in a new environment (LIKE OUTSIDE), do it!
